Sharing personal data

It’s important to share personal data if the following apply – they provide lawful grounds for sharing personal data within and between organisations.

  • you have a safeguarding concern – personal information can be shared in a safeguarding referral and in discussions with a safeguarding lead or line manager
  • it’s in the public interest to share personal data, for example when a serious crime could be prevented – personal information can be shared through reporting to the police.
