Exploitation is a hidden crime which often happens out of sight, leaving victims at serious risk of harm. It is a major local and national issue. Within Devon increasing numbers of vulnerable children and adults are being identified as victims of exploitation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic people may be more vulnerable to exploitation and harm. It’s more important than ever to be alert for signs that someone may be being harmed and take immediate action to share your concerns.
This toolkit is for anyone who, in a professional or voluntary capacity, may come across people who are vulnerable to exploitation. It will help you
- understand and identify exploitation happening locally
- report signs of exploitation
- find guidance and support.
If you are a member of the public, and you are concerned that exploitation may be happening to yourself or someone else, you can find support here.
